ARTWORK

From crafting my own book covers and podcast thumbnails, to trying my hand at digital art, here is a gallery of my more recent work. I’ll be updating these frequently, so be sure to come back to the gallery soon!

BOOK COVERS

DREADFUL SCIENCE

Originally released through Amazon’s serial reading service, Kindle Vella, I have since opted to adapt Dreadful Science as intended: a complete, epic novel of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror.

This poster was created for that original publication, but I was pretty proud of the piece. It highlights many of the themes and iconography one can find within Dreadful Science, and it was my first real attempt at designing a book cover or poster.

Dreadful Science will be published as a proper novel later in 2024 most likely with new cover art. Consider this a taste of what’s to come.

BOOKS & MALADIES

Published as an ebook February 29, 2024 and a paperback March 2, Books & Maladies is my debut novella featuring a dozen or so of my sci-fi and horror short stories all brought together under one overarching frame story.

I designed this piece, as I do most of my work, using the Procreate drawing app for iPad. I used myself and one of my wife’s leather-bound books for my reference images and took some artistic license from there. Prints of my cover are coming soon.

PODCAST THUMBNAILS

AND NOW THE MOVIE

After launching the initial season of my movie podcast with a generic title and stock images in 2020, I decided it was time for a rebrand. And Now the Movie focuses on the joys of watching and rewatching the best and worst films. The original thumbnail for the rebrand (left) was designed with the idea of a home cinema in mind. The red sneakers, the blue jeans, soda and popcorn were included to help sell the casual nature of the show.

During November of 2021, I focused on the subgenre film noir, where hardboiled detectives and femme fatales run the smoke filled clubs and shadow ridden alleyways of classic Hollywood. For this special, I did a quick redesign (right) giving our cartoon character a hat and jacket Humphrey Bogart might have worn. Notice the neon “NOIR” on the movie screen as well as the mixed drink and cigarette swapping places with the popcorn and soda.

New episodes are coming in 2024! So, if you want a taste of what the show is like, head over to my Podcasts page for more info.
